Michel Lannes - President

Michel Lannes is a results-driven battery systems engineer with extensive experience in the design, development, and integration of advanced energy storage systems for aerospace and defense applications. He holds a Bachelor’s degree in Aerospace Engineering from the École Nationale de Mécanique et d’Aérotechnique in Poitiers, France. Michel is also the holder of U.S. Patent 10,239,477 B1 for battery charge management in geosynchronous spacecraft.
Michel began his career at Space Systems Loral (now Maxar), where he advanced through engineering and leadership roles over nearly two decades. He managed battery engineering and test teams, supported procurement and validation of flight hardware, and drove innovation in lithium-ion cell modeling and spacecraft battery development. His work supported high-profile missions such as WorldView Legion and NASA’s Psyche, and included development of GEO lithium-ion battery systems that improved mission life performance and reduced system costs for many customers.
After his tenure at Maxar, Michel joined EaglePicher Technologies, where he has served in both technical leadership and customer-facing engineering roles. At EaglePicher’s Lithiumstart division, he spearheaded cell testing, battery modeling, and the development of simplified battery management systems that achieved flight heritage for satellite missions. Later, as Applications Engineering Systems Engineer, Michel led proposal development, designed battery solutions for space and defense platforms, and established comprehensive cell test programs that enhanced win rates, supported system qualification, and strengthened customer confidence. Throughout his career, Michel has been recognized for advancing the credibility and performance of aerospace battery systems.
